The village has two banks with cash dispenser, a doctor,
a medical clinic and a very helpful chemist.

Local shopping illustrates the slower pace of the village
and listening to the Spanish ladies gossip is part
of the winding down process.

Search out the local shops hiding behind cooling blinds
in the villagers' front parlours for anything from toothpaste
to pork chops.

People are very welcoming and friendly, but take a
phrase book as few of the local speak English.

Visit the local covered market for freshly cooked
breakfast chorros, vegetables and bread, and buy fresh
fish from the van which visits daily.

The area is surrounded by magnificent walking country with forest trails along the nearby Genal and Guadal rivers. The area is mountainous, totally unspoilt and nearly deserted.

Beaches:

El Nobo is a mere 30 mins by car from the Mediterranean coast which has excellent beaches. These extend from Sabanillas eastwards to Marbella and westwards to Gibraltar. It is also 90 mins to the Atlantic coast which extends from Tarifa (the centre of wind surfing) past Cape Trafalgar to the wonderful, uncrowded beaches at Bolonia and Zahara.

Eating Out:

There are several tapa bars selling traditional Spanish snack foods which can easily stretch to a meal and are excellent value for money. There are also various local restaurants open mostly from April to October.

Outside the village and a short drive away there is a selection of good restaurants offering a wide variety of Spanish and International cuisine and which are open all year round.

Nightlife:
There are three Night clubs and over 15 bars in the village. The Spanish know how to party.
